Where Are We?

Evideale yurt is located in Eviedale campsite, in the small village of Evie on the north-eastern end of the mainland.

The campsite itself is a very small, quiet place with additional space for only around six further tents. Scrupulously clean toilets and showers are available (across the field and a very quiet road), as is a washing up station, rubbish removal and a small number of picnic tables.

The yurt is placed at the far end of the small camping field and is surrounded by stone walls. The door looks up the field towards the buildings that comprise the rest of the campsite (about 150 yards away). Behind the yurt are sweeping views down across farmland to the sea and Rousay island. Although there are buildings dotted around, none crowd the yurt and the vista is quite open. A small road leading away from the yurt takes you down to a long white sand beach.

To reach Orkney itself, there are a number of routes you can take. Flights are run by Loganair and arrive at the airport in Kirkwall; we can put you in touch with a car hire company we have used before who we have found to be reasonably priced, reliable and helpful.

If you wish to come by ferry, these are operated by either Pentland Ferries from Gills Bay to St Margaret's Hope (65 minute journey time) or by Northlink Ferries. Northlink sail from Aberdeen to Kirkwall (6 hours journey time) or Scrabster to Stromness (90 minutes journey time).
